The virtual festival 

Before Covid hit, F|L Events were contracted by YM&U Group, for the second year to oversee the production of all content for the Happy Place Festivals, due to be held once again at Chiswick House and Tatton Park; and following the success of the festival in 2019, a new venue was due to be added.

Without wanting to cancel the festival completely, especially with the key ideas of Happy Place being exactly what was needed during these difficult times, we were asked to adapt the festival content into a virtual festival.

We embraced the challenge of re-imagining the festival spirit in an online setting, while ensuring to maintain the welcoming atmosphere virtually, that was generated so incredibly at the live festivals.

All of the key elements of the live festival were included within the virtual festival, plus so much more. Hosted on a dedicated Happy Place Festival website, there was an interactive site map which helped users navigate between talks from inspirational celebrity speakers, mindfulness workshops from the experts and even mocktail making classes! The festival ran for four weeks from 12 June through to the 12 July with at least three pieces of content being released each day with even more at the weekend with up to six pieces each day!

There were so many huge names who contributed to the virtual festival, creating over 120 different pieces of content, including Russell Brand, Dame Kelly Holmes, Gary Barlow, Gabby Logan, Craig David, Holly Tucker, Mr Motivator, Gi & Tom Fletcher, Freya Ridings, Rob Da Bank, Krissy Cela and Amanda De Cadenet, just to name a few!

We were the direct point of contact for all content providers, from initial contact, through to contract writing, sending filming guidelines, receiving their content through, asset sharing and all communication in between! When choosing the content for the festival we ensured that across all areas of the festival there was a wide range of different talk topics, workshops and classes, held by an amazing and truly diverse array of speakers and teachers from different ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, abilities, disabilities, local and international, to create the incredible line up that resulted.
